This painting is of my son, Cale, playing in the water on a warm summer day. There was nothing complicated about the moment—just a child completely caught up in the simple joy of splashing through a stream.
As we grow older, it becomes easy to hurry past moments like this. Children have a way of reminding us that life doesn’t always need to be productive or important. Sometimes it is enough to feel the cool water around your feet, the warmth of the sun, and simply enjoy being alive.
I wanted this painting to preserve that sense of childhood—the freedom to be completely present in a moment and find happiness in something wonderfully simple.
Perhaps growing older isn’t about leaving childhood behind, but remembering how to recognize the joy that is still all around us.
